A frozen lake & mysterious Curon bell tower.

The mysterious Curon bell tower.

This lake and its bell tower coming out from a frozen lake were for a long time on my bucket list.

Tourists walk on the frozen lake and go around it. Probably they are just as astonished as I am while looking at this incredible fairy tale and unusual landscape. I went to see it early in the morning, in the afternoon and even during night time when no one was around. I can’t describe the good feeling of watching it.

This bell tower is part of an ancient church that is now submerged since the fifties, when a dam was completed. This is the Resia Lake and the small village is Curon. The lake is an extreme corner of Italy, just next by Austria and few kilometres away from Switzerland.

It doesn’t matter the season, this bell tower is always fascinating.

If you want to visit Lake Resia and Val Venosta, it’s good to know that the area is fully covered by public transportation, you can easily park your car close to bell tower, there are restaurants, hotels and different sky areas both on the Italian side or at the Austrian side. If you love snowkite, the Resia Lake is just the place to be.
