Behind Expo2015 there is a great job!

When they were building up the exposition site of the international exhibition Expo2015, we heard every kind of criticism. We can clearly say that Italians love to criticise haphazardly, wrongly believing that outside our national borders we could find the so called, and desired, El Dorado made of simple perfection. I travelled enough and I can say that I have seen a kaleidoscope of different situations but, never, I entered in the notorious El Dorado.

A group of demonstrators (criminals) welcomed the opening of Expo2015 devastating Milan. I already talked about this fact in the post “no one can dare to touch Milan”. I have been in Expo only twice, during evening time. I really want to enjoy this Expo in spite of the Italian stand-up comedian Crozza. I really have no clue what the Turkish would have realized instead of the Italians in his personal opinion (referring to Crozza’s sketch). Both times I have been in Expo I was fascinated, differently from the writer that posted on the well-known magazine “Internazionale” the article “behind the Expo exaggerations there is nothing”.

Nothing? What is he talking about? Has he visited the Expo area? What he would have liked to encounter? What about all the people that are working there? Moreover, what about all the tourists that Expo is bringing to Milan? He wrote that Expo took away the rice fields that were previously existing there….! What he wrote borders on the ridiculous. Maybe he has not seen the conferences where NASA scientists were talking about how modern technologies and the space research can help agriculture development. But we know, it is easier to type critics than not respecting all the people that are sweating of hard job over there.

Left behind these silly Sunday critics, the tree of life is really impressive with its night lights. The Expo, in its long history, left many wonders, such as the Tour Eiffel in Paris. Lights, colours, nations are all hosted in an international Milan. More than one kilometre and a half full of pavilions, each one representing an open window on a country, its territory, its people and their cultures. I have seen only few pavilions at the moment, but it was enough to give me that gasoline that would push me to book an airplane ticket and to go exploring new places.

The Expo subject is everything but granted. In Country such as Italy, which culinary traditions are under UNESCO protection, the theme “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life” is just perfect. We don’t usually think about the importance of the food resources but we are billions on this planet and some of these resources have been already destroyed and other are under peril. Alimentation is, first of all, a survival matter but, as we sit on a table at least twice a day, it is also a huge part of our social life and culture.

Expo is also a huge opportunity for Milan, it has a lot of economical induced and for its citizen it represents an occasion to have relax and fun. Expo is just few steps from the city centre, it is reachable in many ways, it is coloured and enjoyable. Expo is the dynamism of who looks ahead. Many friends are working there, some charity associations have the chance to show their effort for the community. In the end you can really pass from every kind of attraction and, If I were you, I would not miss a visit to the nine clusters such as the ones dedicated to coffee, rice, spices and the others. You can then tell me if you have met “foody”, the Expo mascot, without envying to much that person that is inside that puppet in the middle of august.
