It has been a while now that I’m engaged with a photographic path which aim is to show the costs of divisions and conflicts with only one purpose: never repeat the mistake of war! Watching this real time photos coming from Paris, suffering the apprehension to know if my friends from Paris are alive or death, watching a so unhuman attack to freedom just makes my blood boiling of nervous. Peace and Democracy, let me write them with the capital latter, have been conquered by our ancestor with the blood of fight. A fight to give us the better present we are living in. I already see who talks about the “western countries’ defeat” or “darkness period”. No, this has to be an awareness strong and steady of the value we must protect at any cost, freedom of expression, democracy, freedom to express thoughts. No, today there is no defeat but the awareness that freedom is not just granted but it is necessary to keep fighting for it under any front, cultural, political and of course also with the use of force in some contest. I already see who will try to built up walls, destroying bridges, who will point the finger against everything is considered “different”. This would be the true victory of the killer madness that, yesterday, broke many innocent people lives. No, Europe must be strong and proud of that freedom tradition that brings with her, and that now has the burden to defend. Paris is the symbol of freedom, of the French revolution, of the first human rights’ declarations that this people is trying to burn down. Today I want to see again that ray of light I have pictured some years ago in the amazing Paris and I want to tell with the French their beloved motto: “Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité”. We must have no fear! This photo is the wish that no one will ever turn down the light of freedom on our lands!
