See you soon “Si combatteva qui!” (Here they fought!).

The past Sunday was the closing day of Franconiphotos’ exhibition: “Si combatteva qui!” (Here they fought). To make a balance is difficult because the feelings involved are many. At half past five p.m. on Sunday, under the soft lights of the exhibition’s room, I closed the visitors’ book I opened on September third. From that day until last Sunday 22nd of November, in two months and a half of exhibition, visitors have left more than 75 pages of comments. I read it all and I must tell that many times I was touched by the worlds that have been written on it, like the ones left by an old man: “Touching? Moving? Not enough, I’m 71 years old and I’m not ashamed to say that I cried”. I want to thank all the visitors, because organising such a visit is not easy, I needed constancy, effort, physically and economically in the panorama of no sponsor. The comments showed that the citizens haven’t been indifferent, from the youngest ones to the ones that were remembering the grandfather fallen or not during the First World War. It has been touching to guide, trough the stories behind those photos, my friends, young alpinists, former soldiers and the Erasmus. The latter ones all great-grandsons of persons that lost their life to fight one against each other. The balance of the visitors is around 2000 persons. A success I would have never imagined and that gives me the strength to go on with the historical research to remember those men and to give a message of peace and union in a historical moment, unfortunately, where the exhibition’s topic, is sadly current. See you at the next stage!
